September 2006 Louise Reinoehl was recently awarded a $1000 grant from Target for the purchase of reading and language arts enrichment for our first graders. The children will soon have the opportunity to build critical reading and language skills through the use of Versa-Tiles. The manipulatives are highly engaging, easily individualized, and offer children immediate feedback on each performance. As an incentive, students who reach a goal will be able to bring home a Versa-Tile set to demonstrate what he or she has accomplished before returning the set to the teacher. Within a few weeks, we encourage you to ask your first grader(s) about using the Versa-Tiles. You should enjoy a very enthusiastic conversation about them.
