trying to convince people to agree with you (or to believe your idea).
Read a turtle story about Howzit
Brainstorm and Prewrite:
After reading the article think about:
1. What do I want my
readers to do to help sea turtles?
2. How can I grab the
reader’s attention at the beginning? (Shocking or amazing fact?)
3. What facts did I
find that could convince my readers to think the way I want? (specific, serve as main ideas for each
of your paragraphs, should support your main ideas)
4. What thought do I
want the reader to be left with? (Summarize your overall goal or belief).

When you are done, print
your work.
Start your rough draft or “sloppy copy”:
- Focus on information and allow your ideas to flow freely.
- Don't worry about grammar, spelling, and punctuation. You will
correct your work later on.
Make sure you
include:
- all your thoughts
- as many details as possible
- complete thoughts and ideas
- facts to support your argument
